Program Summary
CLS held its first Winter English Camp on Korea's beautiful Jeju
Island. A total of forty eight students participated in two five-day
camps. They traveled on board the Onahama cruise ship from the port
of Incheon and during the thirteen-hour trip were treated to a Welcoming/Orientation
party, dinner and an evening of fun activities and games.
The camp itself was held in the city of Pyo-Sun located approximately
40 km from Jeju city, with rocky beaches and panoramic views of
the South Sea (East China Sea). Students were required to take three
tests, consisting of Math, Science and Social Studies to determine
their level of English. Also, the students were exposed to the same
text and curriculum used by American and Canadian schools.
Taking advantage of Pyo-Son's natural setting and scenery, students
were taken outside the classroom as much as possible taking part
in mini-hikes up the surrounding mountains and day trips to the
beach. Students were also treated to three delicious organic meals
a day.
CLS is currently developing programs for the spring and summer
in various parts of Korea. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!
Student comments
"I liked the level test because I was able to experience actual
American texts of American schools. And I liked various activities.
I also liked the dynamic of the program and the "living"
classes which were far different from boring Korean classes."
Twincky (Ji-Won Ahn, Gr.7)
"I feel my English has improved because I spoke and heard
much English in the camp. The programs of various activities such
as singing and playing games were much fun. I liked the food very
much."
Terry (Dae-Hyun Kim, Gr.6)
I liked learning through experience--not through books only.
Brad teacher and Carla teacher were very kind.
I learned many words and expressions.
Paul (Kyung-Jun Min, Gr.8)
